Italians & the Sea

The Italians are no strangers to the sea, their love affair with sailing the Mediterranean and beyond goes back literally thousands of years! The ancient Romans were excellent craftsman and their ships were both revered and feared in all of the ancient world.

The Venetians continued the tradition with an amazing history that goes from the small but elegant gondolas up to the huge naval and merchant ships that were quickly assembled in the famous Venetian Arsenal.  Of course Genova didn’t stay that far behind with their famous ship building…

It should be no surprise then that Italy continues in the vanguard of the ship building world. Italian Yachts are renowned worldwide for their luxury, attention to detail and amazing handling. This page is dedicated to Italian Yachts, while it is still at its’ beginning I will be adding regular content both to this page as well as my blog posts on the subject.

For now I’d like to share an inspirational video with you. The video really is perfect for just about any page of this website as it illustrates the mentality behind la bella vita perfectly! The Video —which was produced by the Azimut-Benetti group— is titled “Tribute to Italian Genius”. I think you will find it inspiring!

Here’s another inspiring video that shows the beautiful Riva 76′ Bahamas cruising around Capri… I can’t think of a better place to enjoy it!

Here is an interesting and entertaining brief documentary:

The romantic Italian atmosphere is singular and unique no matter how you experience it. However, to see Italy from the perspective that a boat can give you, is to see Italy from a whole different angle!

If you have the money to enjoy a super-yacht that is GREAT! However, realistically the majority of us can only dream of such an adventure —which is pretty fun in itself 😉

The good news is that you don’t have to be super rich in order to enjoy Italy from a boat. For example, while visiting Capri you can hire local fishermen to take you around the island for a very reasonable price. Not only is such an experience affordable, I actually prefer it to commercial —and expensive— boat tours around the Island. Who better to show you the secret coves and spectacular waters than a local! Not to mention the dose of local culture that you will also get.

In future posts I will go into detail about my wonderful adventures in Capri as well as other great ways to experience Italy by boat, so stay tuned!
